History of Vitamix:
In 1937, “Papa” Barnard began selling blenders and private labeling them under the Vita-Mix brand. Vita was chosen because it means life and Papa Barnard was all about promoting a healthy lifestyle. In 1949, Papa Barnard debuted the company’s first televised infomercial, which went down in history as this nation’s first ever infomercial!
In 1964 Vitamix incorporated and in 1969 it introduced its first blender, the Vitamix 3600. This was the first blender that could make hot soup, blend ice cream, grind grain, and knead bread dough.
30 years later, in 1985, Papa’s children used their engineering degrees to create the industry’s first ever commercial blender and called it the Mix’n Machine. This creation propelled Vitamix as the first ever high-performance blender in the foodservice industry.
“…the world can be a healthier and better place through whole-food nutrition.” – Papa Barnard
