Blend of the Day: Recovery Smoothie!


Now that the “TGIF” hoopla for the week is out of the way, we either stayed in or went out to have drinks, some may have had a few too many and probably telling yourself that you’ll “never touch another alcoholic beverage again” because not only is your head pounding but your entire day is now based on this recovery process. Why not make it easier on yourself and make yourself a recovery smoothie that’ll help you bounce right back up and into the gym – out of the house?!


  • handful blueberries
  • 1 banana
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh almonds
  • 1 teaspoon supergreens powder
  • 1 tablespoon whey protein
  • live yogurt culture (Yakult 1)
  • ½ cup water/orange juice/soy milk

Directions: Blend for approximately 45-60 seconds to make sure the almonds are no longer chunky.

This recipe is suggested for those who have joined the cult-like following for insanity workout. It’s important to flush out lactic acid upon working out as it will help with the soreness and tenderness we tend to feel after a hard workout. This is also a primary reason many feel discouraged to go back to the gym – this nutritious drink will help alleviate the build up of lactic acid as it will also help you stay hydrated without retaining the water weight. Not doing the insanity workout? No problem. This works simply as a cleanse and detox and can be a substitute for a full meal.
